HLPS is pleased to announce that Shelby Stakenas and Lucas Thibault are the Society’s 2022 scholarship recipients of $1,000 each.

Shelby is a 2022 graduate of the Academy of Science, Math, and Technology Early College High School where she earned 71 college credits and an Associate Degree as well as her high school diploma.  She plans to attend one of the 11 colleges (favors University of Michigan) to which she has been accepted to major in chemistry.  Her long-term goal is to conduct chemical research in a laboratory setting.

Lucas is a 2022 graduate of Ludington High School.  Lucas ended his high school career with a 4.0 GPA and ranked 5th in his class.  He plans to attend Western Michigan University in the fall to pursue a degree in Paper Engineering and Science.  He hopes to have a hand in revolutionizing environmentally progressive paper products upon completion of his degree requirements and entry into the workforce.

Scholarship applications need to be submitted online beginning October 1, 2022 and are due by February 1, 2023. Scholarships will be awarded in the early spring of 2023.
